As of February 22, 2013 Sheboygan Firefighters Charities is now a recognized 501c3 charitable organization.

For the last ten years Sheboygan Fire Fighters have been giving back in the community through the Sheboygan Fire Fighters Community Assistance Program.  Soon the charitable arm of Local 483 will be known as "Sheboygan Firefighters' Charities".  Our charitable program will be greatly expanded.  Please check back for more details.

Below is some of the things that we have participated in:

  • Put a new roof on the home of SSgt Kisers family.(Staff Sgt. Charles Kiser of the Army Reserves 330th Military Police Detachment was killed in Iraq in 2004)
  • Donate to many local charities
  • Helped build the Harbor Center Ice Rink
  • Volunteered with Salvation Army in conjuction with their Christmas Castle for needy families
  • Go to local hospitals every Christmas morning and give candy and warm wishes to those in the hostpital.
  • Helped paint new addition of Salvation Armys building.

On March 20, 2014 Sheboygan Fire Fighters Charities, IAFF local 483, was awarded the 2014 Wisconsin AFL/CIO Community Services Project Award for the “Fire Engine Co #1” exhibit at the Above and Beyond Children’s Museum.
By raising nearly $3,000 to purchase about 80 new coats Sheboygan Firefighters were able to warm the hearts of kids in need. The Sheboygan County Interfaith Organization and Sheboygan Area School District were the recipients of the new coats. These organizations are able to distribute these coats to kids who need them this winter.
Engine Company #1 is now open at Above & Beyond Children’s Museum. This must see exhibit, located on the 3rd floor allows kids to experience the fire service first-hand all while learning fire safety.
